Istanbul – Within the framework of strengthening international partnerships to develop the sustainable energy sector in Libya, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Farjani, The Executive Director of the National Development Agency, met with the director of the Turkish company Fortis Energy, part of the UCK Holding Group and a pioneer in implementing renewable energy projects in Europe.

The meeting discussed means of cooperation in developing renewable energy projects in Libya, including solar, biogas and energy storage technology, in which Fortis has extensive experience, especially in countries such as Turkey, Serbia, Bosnia, the Netherlands, Spain and Albania.

During the meeting, the Executive Director emphasized the importance of harnessing renewable energy to provide electricity to areas and operate agricultural projects, which contributes to supporting food security and achieving sustainable economic development, especially in areas that suffer from poor energy infrastructure.

He also stressed the need to attract experienced international companies to contribute to building local capacities and transferring modern technology to Libya, praising the track record of Fortis, which manages projects that exceed 380 megawatts and seeks to expand its investments to 2 gigawatts in Southeastern Europe.

For his part, the director of Fortis Energy expressed his interest in investment opportunities in Libya, and the company’s readiness to contribute to development efforts through clean and efficient energy solutions, with a focus on supporting productive sectors such as agriculture.

The meeting is part of a series of meetings National Development Agency is holding with specialized international institutions as part of Libya’s plan to develop its energy infrastructure and diversify its energy sources to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development.
