As part of the National Development Agency’s vision to implement major strategic projects that enhance water security and support sustainable development plans across the country, the National Development Agency continues its practical steps towards completing the Sirir-Ajdabiya-Sirte-Sadada link project, as one of the most important water supply projects that will make a qualitative leap in the water transportation and distribution system and contribute to ending the water scarcity crisis and ensuring the sustainability of supplies.
In this context, and under the direct instructions of the Executive Director of the National Development Agency, Engineer Kamal Suleiman – Director of the Strategic Projects Department – along with the Director of the Industrial River First Phase Water Investment Authority and a number of engineers of the department, made a field visit to follow up on the project work, after the arrival of operational materials and special valves supplied by the National Development Agency according to international specifications. The work teams started installing these valves inside the specialized chambers along the path of the Qardabiya-Sada connection, after a halt that lasted for several years.
This project is of great strategic importance, as it will link the man-made river system between the east and west of the country, allowing Sirte to benefit from two main sources of water, in addition to supporting and feeding all water projects that need additional sources, whether transmission lines or strategic reservoirs. This step represents a key pillar for strengthening water infrastructure, ensuring water security, and serving citizens and vital projects in the long term.
