
The Executive Director of the National Development Agency held a meeting with SRJ Construction and Technologies Engineering Contracting Limited Company, to discuss the final stages of designing and starting the implementation of the Sabha International Stadium, according to FIFA and CAF specifications, in the Turkish capital Istanbul.
During the meeting, the Turkish company’s architectural team reviewed a number of proposed models for the final design of the stadium, which has a capacity of more than 20,000 spectators. The final design was officially approved according to the highest quality standards and international specifications, qualifying the stadium to host major football tournaments and forums organized under the auspices of the International and African football federations in the future.
During the meeting, the official signing of the project implementation contract between National Development Agency and the Turkish company SRJ took place, where the contract stipulates the implementation of the project in all its phases within the specified timetable, according to the approved standard technical specifications, and at the highest levels of international quality.
During the meeting, the Executive Director emphasized the importance of fully committing to the implementation of the project within the specified time frame, stressing the need to complete it according to the highest international standards, to be a qualitative addition to the sports infrastructure in Libya.
Sabha International Stadium includes a number of integrated sports and service facilities, in addition to its large capacity, as it contains referees’ rooms, dressing rooms for both teams, warm-up and training areas, VIP lounges, in addition to a group of restaurants and cafes, and various types of parking lots.
The final design of the stadium was inspired by the architectural models used in the South African stadiums that hosted the 2010 World Cup, giving the project an international character that reflects Sebha’s aspirations to be a prominent station in hosting regional and international sporting events.
The Sebha International Stadium is the first international stadium to be built with international specifications in the history of southern Libya since the establishment of the Libyan state, thus constituting a new tributary of development and sports investment for the youth of the Libyan south.
